Starbucks or Dunkin’ Donuts? DUNKIN! All the way!
What activities and leadership roles do you have on campus? I am a Resident Assistant in McLean Hall and the General Manager of SUTV (Shippensburg University Television). I am also a member of Act V, Ship’s theater group, and have been involved with Ship Mini-THON since it’s inaugural year.
When did you know you wanted to work in media? Most of my life I had my heart set on being an elementary school teacher, then in my junior year of high school I decided to take a Broadcast Journalism class because I had heard it was fun and I was hooked. The teacher for that class actually put it in my head, Mrs. Tetor, I am forever grateful! She had me put together a little publicity video and told me all about PR, I had never heard of it before that.
How has student media shaped your college experience?I honestly don’t even know what I would be doing here at Shippensburg if I wasn’t involved with student media. From the second I shed all fear and started raising my hands at SUTV meetings I was sucked in and would not want it any other way. I love all of the friends I have made through the different campus media outlets and I know we’ll all be incredible connections for each other in the not too far future!
What is the best thing about being an RA? Getting the rare opportunity to be able to really help people, seeing them in a place and position you were in yourself just a few short years ago and getting to use your experiences and training to get them to these insanely confident and beautiful places in their college careers and knowing something you may have said or did could have possibly had even the slightest of impact on that.
What is something people would be surprised to know about you?I think the world messed up and I was supposed to be a teenager in the ’80s, and by that I mean I would like to marry Prince or Judd Nelson circa 1985.
If you couldn’t work in your current field at all, what would you pursue? If by current field you mean Public Relations, I think I would choose to go a pre-Law/law school path.
