Interested in starting your own business some day? Come and attend EntrepreneurSHIP Night,stop by the Small Business Development Center (SBDC), in the Tuscarora Room at 7pm on November 17.
Five entrepreneurs are sharing their experience and knowledge about starting their own business and how the SBDC has helped them create and manage their successful business. Â
The SBDC center provides free of charge counseling to small business owners and helps educateand determine convenient solutions to business challenges. The five entrepreneurs that received helpfrom the SBDC, and who will be speaking at the event are Adam Sinz, Marie Habib, Kenny Hawk, Jesse Rotz and Ryan Richards.
Adam Sinz is creator of the action sport label called Amped Apparel. Sinz has had a passion forgraphic design ever since he was a teen. From March to November Sinz sells his brand at sportingevents in his 40-foot tour bus and 20-foot trailer. He has around 75 people who endorse his brand,including Antonio Brown, Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver.
Marie Habib graduated from Shippensburg University in 2003 with an emphasis in elementaryeducation. She worked for ChildTime School Age Care (CTSAC) for approximately 10 years as the Lead Teacher in 2000, the Program Director in 2006 and partner in 2008. She then became the owner of CTSAC in 2013. Due to her outstanding performance and commitment to building her business, she was awarded the Outstanding Young alumnus Award of Shippensburg University in 2015.
Kenny Hauk started his business designing and manufacturing durable parts for Jeep Wranglersin 2007. His passion for off road driving and his high ethical standards have fueled him to work hard and maintain a high standard for creating Jeep Wrangler parts. Hauk is well known for the number one selling undercarriage skid plate system, the best turn key custom 4×4’s, the LS powered Dune Raider and the first 24-valve Cummins diesel JK Wrangler.
Jesse Rotz and Ryan Richards graduated from the Siebel Brewing Institute in 2006 and thengraduated from West Chester University. They started their own Beer Brewing business in 2008 andwithin eight years, they were expanding the business into Maryland, Washington DC and West Virginia. Rotz and Richards have collected 11 medals at The World Beer Championships in Chicago since starting their business.
EntrepreneurSHIP Night is a great opportunity for students to learn more about starting theirown business and the resources accessible for them to create a successful business. This event is not just for people interested in starting their own business, all students can gain applicable knowledge through this event. SBDC Consulting Manager Cheryl Young says that “SBDC consultants help both pre-venture and existing entrepreneurs through one-on-one consulting. Typically we assist with business plans, market research and financial planning, however we can offer assistance in other areas depending on the client’s needs.”
