For All The Single Ladies On Valentine’s Day

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Ship chapter.

Hey single lady, are you feeling down on Valentine’s Day?  While couples seem to be gushing more than usual all around you, kick back and relax.  Take advantage of your freedom as an independent woman and think about all the things you have accomplished and have yet to do.  Here are 4 affirmations for remaining single for a little while longer.

1.)    You have unlimited freedom.

No one can tie you down, and that is empowering.  You can travel, work as much or as little as you want to, mingle with other guys and run your own life.  You do not have to ask permission from your significant other over what you want to do and when.  You run this show now.

2.)    You can be lazy.

I know some girls say they can be lazy with their boyfriend, but their falsies and mascara are telling.  You can be full out lazy with no repercussions of guilt or low self-esteem.  In fact, being lazy is the best way to recharge your batteries.  So lounge like there is no tomorrow.

3.)    You can be selfish.

By selfish, I mean caring about yourself in your own special way.  You deserve the best for yourself and if that means remaining single instead of dating a jerk, then do it.  Life is too short to put up with people who cannot let you be selfish.

4.)    You can win ladies night.

Being single is the best time to connect with your girls, especially if they are single too.  Have fun hitting up the bars in your sparkly stilettos and accepting a drink from that cute guy at the window table.  After all, you might not be single forever so live it up in the moment.

So as Valentine’s Day comes and goes, think about how much you are worth to yourself and those around you.  You are an amazing and powerful woman.  Do what you want.
