4 Ways To Keep The Love Alive Post-Valentine’s Day

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Ship chapter.

Why should the love live and die with the coming and going of Valentine’s Day? Just because it’s marked on a calendar as a holiday where we celebrate love, does not mean that we cannot show each other that level of lovey any other day of the year. Want to keep that lovey-dovey feeling alive? Show your partner, friends or your family how much you love them with these simple tips!

1. Tell themSome people have the love language of spoken word; use that and literally tell your man that you appreciate things he does for you, say thank you to your parents or tell your friends you’re glad to have them around all the time.  Don’t be afraid to verbally tell people that you love them any day of the year.

2. Use their gifts. So they gave you something- Use it. Show them that you love their gift and don that sweater your grandmother gave you, take pictures with the flowers your man flattered you with or write a thank you letter thanking him for how he treats you.

3. Use Re-affirmationMen get confidence boosts when they feel like they’ve satisfied you – in any way. When you smile at your man, it can brighten up his entire day. When you touch his shoulder, it lets him see you are thinking of him. Give him a kiss! Don’t be afraid to be flirty and let him know how much you love him.

4. Return the loveGuys don’t have to be the one always giving the gifts. Show your besties, your man or your family how much you love them and think of them with simple gifts. A lunch-bag love note can go a long way on any random day. Keep sharing the love – after or before Valentine’s Day. Make the people around you happy, and you’ll be feeling pretty awesome too.

I'm Nicole! Nikki, Nic, anything you want to call me really. I'm from south-eastern Pennsylvania and I love life and beauty. Whenever I'm not writing or taking pictures for my blogs or social media accounts, you can find me (hopefully) at the beach surfing, traveling, making new friends and seeing new places. I'm in love with people I've never met and places I've never been to. I am currently a Senior (!!!) at Shippensburg University, majoring in Communications Journalism (focusing in Public Relations) and minoring in Psychology. I would love to work for a PR firm with advertising, event planning and perhaps a chance to travel. Thanks for reading!! - Nicole
