Winter Skin Menu: Hydrating Bases

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at SFU chapter.

Nivea Night Care Sensitive Skin – This has been my favourite moisturizer so far in the winter season. Although it’s marketed as a nighttime lotion you apply before bed, I’ve been loving this for daytime wear! It’s not too thick or tacky and it’s been keeping my dry skin quenched all day in this cold weather.

Smashbox Photo Finish Primer Oil – I love all primers; I think they make such a difference when applying foundation, but I find that most of them are more silicone and aimed towards pore-filling. This primer, however is a face oil and is exactly what any dehydrated face seriously needs!

CoverGirl Outlast Stay Luminous Foundation – I am super picky with my foundations because I hate the look of matte and cakey makeup. This combined with my dry skin means I am a sucker for dewy finishes. This new covergirl luminous foundation has been my absolute favourite for everyday wear; the coverage is medium to buildable and the finish has a lovely sheen so it doesn’t look caked at all.

NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer – If you keep up with any beauty bloggers, then chances are you already know all about this one. Well, it is definitely worth all of the hype. Once again, when you have dry skin things like concealer cling to dry patches and end up looking cakey – this one however lives up to its name and is super creamy and not drying at all!

Becca Shimmering Skin Perfecter – I am a self-proclaimed highlight addict and this is by far the most gorgeous one in my collection. Although I do love powder highlights, they too can tend to stick to and accentuate dry patches. When you use cream ones such as this beauty, they are a lot smoother and add a lovely dewiness to the skin that doesn’t make you look so dry!
