Treat Your Skin: Tips for Taking Care

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at SFU chapter.

We have all been there: it’s the end of the day and we do not have the energy to wash our face as it seems like the most daunting task. But we just have to suck it up and do it. I don’t think it can be emphasized enough on how important is to take of our skin. Here are some tips for taking care!

Start off with a cleanser

Before you wash your face with a facewash, use a cleanser to take off your makeup. You would be surprised how after you washed your face with a facewash there is still makeup left on your face. Micellar water is a great cleanser to use before washing your face and you can easily find it at any drugstore.

Use a Toner

Using a toner has changed my skin care routine. After you have washed your face, use a toner to take off any excess dirt and is a great refresher for your skin. Rose water is a great natural toner that hydrates and moisturizes your skin, leaving your face super smooth!

Use a Face mask

I never understood the importance of a face mask until I started to use them, and it completely changed my skin. Now I always have to do a face mask twice a week: one hydrating and one deep pore cleansing mask. Before you use a face mask, steam your face. It helps get out impurities that are deep within your skin.

Moisturize

Moisturize. Moisturize. Moisturize. Moisturize in the morning and at night. This is an incredibly important step that you should never skip. According to Kate Somerville, a skin health expert,  she says If there is one beauty product that you should splurge on, it should be a moisturizer.
