You can never go wrong with a pair of Converse. It may seem like Conserves have been trending more in the last few years than they have in a lifetime, but I can assure you that’s not the case. Despite the upgrade in fashion sense from being a kid to an adult, I am just as hopelessly in love with the appearance of Converses as I was ten years ago and here’s why:
Trying to not out-do your partner for your date? Just add a pair of Converses (my safe bet being a pair of black or white ones) to the outfit! This also works perfectly for those first dates when you’re too anxious to function and pick an outfit, because the look of Converses are great for that casual and cute look! Converses are just ageless in my personal opinion. They’re more comfy than breaking in that pair of Doc Martens or making your feet suffer in heels for 4 hours and as a bonus, they’re a safer option than wearing flats if you’re planning to walk around or do activities together.
Speaking of comfort and causal, Converses can be just the shoes you need to make your business attire not so formal. Say you have an informal event for work suggesting you wear business attire (casual and smart business in other words), wearing heels here could be overkill for your feet, mood and overall appearance. Not to mention the fact that us taller women may want to avoid those extra few inches because we shudder at the thought of how much taller we can get. In my opinion, there’s nothing like wearing a pair of fitted jeans with a white shirt, a blazer and Converses to match your pinterest board! *insert boards of Pinterest’s finest outfits*
Not only are Converses a timeless touch to any outfit, but they are also not associated with any season. You can rock a summer floral dress just as well as any layered winter fit. Although there’s the matter of practicality and the fact that Converses aren’t designed to keep the snow or rain out, they can be an ideal option for when the weather is unpredictable, as Vancounver weather usually is.
With how quick the weather can change, Converses can be given points for its durability and tendency to withstand years of wear and tear. I can personally attest to this because even though the Converses I received on my 15th birthday have seen better days, they remain as strong as they were when they were in the box untouched; they could still potentially last me another 3 years before I even think about replacing them! If everything is considered, the battered Converses look is more aesthetically pleasing than a pair of freshly bought ones; just ask the nearest reader!
No matter what you settle on wearing, whether it be jeans -straight cut or skinny, shorts, sweatpants or a dress, Converses can always compliment them, and perhaps add a pop of colour too! There’s a large selection when it comes to picking a color, style or design; don’t be shy to play around and pick a few pairs! Also, whether or not it be brightly sunny or heavy downpour, they can also withstand many years of wear, making them a great investment for students that don’t want to spend more money on shoes every year. It’s safe to assume I won’t be over Converses for another couple of years.
