Chelsea Bengco: Full Time Involvement

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at SFU chapter.

This week, I am pleased to present to you, Chelsea Bengco! Chelsea is a fellow writer for Her Campus here at SFU. She is constantly finding ways to further involve herself in all aspects of life from school, to work, and volunteering. Enjoy as we find out more about her work and future goals here at SFU!

Major: Communications

Year: Second

Age: 19

Hometown: White Rock

Tell us a bit about your major and why you chose it.

I chose the Communications major as I love writing and being able to express my opinion. I also am interested in exploring the public relations side of Communications in order to further my socialization and social media skills and hopefully, in the future, work for a company that I am able to truly dedicate my full support to.

What got you so involved with volunteering?

I always feel the need to stay busy. Aside from working two jobs and doing full time school, I still tend to crave new experiences. It all started when I decided to check my email in the summer to “clean it out” and by doing so, it led me to multiple different volunteer opportunities, including HerCampus which I am extremely grateful for. I enjoy being able to dedicate my time to this and developing my skills in the community.

What do you do in your spare time?

I love being able to try new foods and to explore new activities that I can do with either my friends or family. But when I need time for myself, I enjoy running at the gym and finding funny memes on my Facebook newsfeed.

Why did you decide to write for Her Campus?

Her Campus is an excellent way for me to be able to write my thoughts and be able to help develop my writing skills in hopes of empowering women. Who doesn’t love being able to volunteer their time by doing something they love?

If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go and why?

I would love to go to Greece and explore. The overall aesthetics and the relaxing atmosphere seems like one that would put anyone in a joyful mood. I would assume the food would be amazing as well.

What are your future aspirations and after-grad plans?

Since I am only in my second year, I still have a ways to go, but my main goals is to enter the public relations field to help market through social media and branding. Preferably for a clothing company that I support. If I don’t find a job right away, then I would probably spend some time travelling as there is only so much time in one’s life!
