Self-care is the well-needed process of taking the time to treat yourself. The fast-paced whirlwind we call life can suck some of the fun out of our days and, as women, we know all too well how easy it is to get sucked into that quick life style and forget about ourselves. Everything else is more important, or so we think, so we leave ourselves on the back burner. However, it’s important to take some time to care for yourself, so here’s some tips to get you started when you find the time to give yourself all the loving that you deserve.

Tip 1:

Please, please, please understand that self-care is NOT a selfish act. Self-care is all about balancing yourself and recognizing that taking care of your physical and mental state is an essential must when it comes to your health.

Tip 2:

We spend so much of our time running around cleaning up after others and trying to make them happy that we forget to be our own #1 fan! You need to treat yourself the way you believe Beyoncé would, and to hype yourself up as much as her fans do. Remember sis, if you don’t take care of yourself or treat yourself like the goddess you are then who will?

Tip 3:

Spending time alone with yourself isn’t as awkward as most people make it out to be. Go ahead and take yourself out on dates. Get up and look fabulous for you. Break out that little black dress and take yourself dancing. You deserve to give yourself the love you expect someone else to give you. But remember sis, happiness and love start from within. Anyone else you bring into your life can only add to it.

Tip 4:

Sometimes saying “No” is important for your own piece of mind. Have you ever gotten home, tired from work or school and a friend has invited you out for the night? All you wanted was a shower and to slip into bed but instead you painstakingly went back out when you had work or school early that next morning? Saying no isn’t selfish or unkind. But putting yourself last is.

Tip 5:

Clean up your living space. Visual noise can be distracting and disrupts your peace of mind which is also disruptive to your health. Take the time to re-organize your life so you can make the best decisions for yourself.
