Steven Hamner SFASU ’13

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at SFA chapter.

His southern charm and his jaw-dropping smile has ladies on SFA’s campus hoping to get-close to the Houston, Texas native, Mr. Steven Hamner. With a love for southern living and the East Texas area, Steven chose to gain his college pin right here in Lumberjack nation. Steven is a Junior at SFA, who has only one year left to find his college sweetheart. He is a Kinesiology major and a Health Science minor. Steven is a strong believer that, “unless both the mind and body are nourished and on one accord, you will never be completely happy.”
Recently, I took a sit-down with Steven Hamner to find out just what it is that has the girls around him smiling for days. With a task at hand, it was difficult to not allow his witty personality to get me in a trance, but it had to be done.

Tell us some of your hobbies.
Exercising to stay in shape; Having a good time with close friends and family; Sports Enthusiast (football, baseball, basketball, etc.); Anything to keep me active (tennis, disc golf, volleyball, etc)
What are your future goals and aspirations?
Hope to be happy doing anything in the fitness field, while living in Colorado living on a ski resort with a view of the snowy mountains from my bedroom window.

Five qualities that a girl must have to interest you.
– Must be athletic and active
– Same morals and beliefs; “My relationship with God is the most important thing for me, so I want the girl I date to have that same relationship in which God  is always most important”
– Must be independent enough to hold her own
– Have a good sense of humor because, “I feel like im kind of  funny sometimes”
– “Negative things happen all the time so it doesn’t make the situation any better by not having a positive outlook, because someone most likely is going through worse.”
Deal-breaker and bigges turn-off.
“I can’t date anyone non-christian because I believe our relationship couldn’t move in a positive direction if we have different religious beliefs. And if a girl is conceitied, meaning selfish and  full-of-herself, she will not catch my attention.”
Idea of a “Perfect Date”.
It’s a toss-up between something simple like going  for a summer run on a trail with a relaxing dinner to follow, and a “if the world ends tomorrow, what would you do” type of date.
What does being in love mean to you?
Being willing to sacrifice and put your world on hold, when needed, for the benefit of the one you love; “Love is a completely selfless act.”
Have you ever been in love?
That intense love just hasn’t quite found it’s way to my doorstep at the moment.

Jessika Davidson is a senior at Stephen F. Austin State University majoring in Radio/TV communications with an emphasis in news writing and a public relations/photojournalism double minor. From Houston, TX, the humorous and vivacious campus socialite came to Nacogdoches to escape the hustle and bustle of Texas' big city. When she's not hard at work at the campus radio or TV station, she's often doing community service projects around town with her sorority sisters of Gamma Sigma Sigma, of which she is the chapter president of. She also enjoys working at her jobs, one as a Master Control Operator for the KTRE-9 TV station and one as the owner of Jessika Davidson Photography, where she travels the state with her beloved nikon, affectionately named "Gary", to shoot weddings. She is beyond excited to be a campus correspondent for SFA, and hopes to become a video journalist (news reporter) or a host of a entertainment show.
