My Go-To Affordable Makeup Products

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at SFA chapter.

If you are like me, you understand the struggles of waking up in the morning and how hard it is to get out of bed. I personally only have around 15 minutes to do my makeup and sometimes less when I decide to sleep in a little longer. So here is a list of my go to  products I use in the morning to make getting ready quick and easy.

Before even applying makeup I always wash my face and apply moisturizer to my face and neck. Then I grab for my Wet n Wild Cushion Foundation. Now, this dewy finish foundation is light coverage,, but is very easy to build up which is great for just an everyday look.

Next, I apply my Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Concealer under my eyes which also has a buildable property I enjoy. Then I set my under eye with the NYX  Contour and Highlight Palette using the yellow powder. In my T zone where I get most oily throughout the day I apply the Stay Matte by Rimmel.

Next is eyebrows. I use the Loreal Brow Stylist & Fill with the triangular tip which is great for drawing the outline and creating a more natural looking brow. On days when I have less time than usual I use the E.L.F Instant Lift Brow Pencil which has a thicker tip making it easier to fill in more quickly. From the same  NYX Contour and Highlight Palette I use a combination of the bronzers in the palette for my cheekbones, forehead, jawline, and all over my eyelid and crease, to add some dimension.

On to the cheeks: for blush I use the Wet n Wild Color Icon, my favorite shades include Pearlescent Pink a color and Mellow Wine. Then to highlight, the Master Chrome by Maybelline in Molten Rose Gold is such a beautiful pink highlight that make your cheekbones pop and a tip to seem more awake is to put some in the inner corner of your eye. I next add some of my Lash Paradise from L’oreal which both lifts and adds more volume to my lashes. Then I get my favorite chapstick and apply it. Then to finish of the look and set it in place I use my L’oreal  Infallible setting spray.

College can be such a hectic time and it’s easy to get caught up in the stress of it all, so it’s hard to find some time for self reflection and relaxation. To me makeup is more than just an extra step in my everyday life. It’s a time where I can just focus on me, and when I put on my makeup it gives me the extra confidence to put my best foot forward each day. I hope that everyone can realize that makeup doesn’t have to be complicated or time consuming and find the same enjoyment it has given me.
