Multitasking as a Hardworking Lumberjack: Derrienne Schultz

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at SFA chapter.

Derrienne Schultz was born on the 15th of January, 21 years ago. If you ask her, life is going better than she could’ve ever imagined. Derrienne is currently in the junior year of her undergraduate school carrrer. She is a Radio/TV Mass Communication major and has several talents.

Schultz is a member of the Residence Hall Association, which is a very honorable organization to be a part of on campus. She works as a desk assistant and has held this position for the last two years. She has worked in several halls including South, Hall 14, and Griffith. She is very reliable and does not mind working late on the weekends unlike many other students. Whenever there is an opportunity where she can help out her peers, she takes full advantage of it.

Being a desk assistant for residence halls is not her only obligation on campus – Derrienne has also filled a position in the Mass Communication building where she is in charge of distributing camera equipment to students and holding everyone, including herself, accountable of their items after each usage. She gets to work early and always has a positive attitude to everyone. Whether she is working behind the desk in Griffith or behind the desk in the Boyton building, her work ethic is always efficient and consistent. Her dedication takes her far. “Don’t let anyone give you the obligation to not continue your dreams,” Schultz says.

Aside from her work life, Derrienne is also a proud member of Greek life. She rushed and pledged APO a year ago and speaks fondly of her fraternity. According to Schultz, the rush process was exhausting, but extremely worth it. She loves being involved on campus and APO is known for contributing to the campus and giving back to the community.

As you can tell now, Ms. Schultz is a very busy woman, but if you can’t catch her between her busy schedule, you can always catch her on the SFA channel for an episode of East Texas Explorer, SFA Now, or Nac Edition. She has consistently been featured on episodes for a year. Moreover, you can also listen to her during one of her radio shifts on KSAU 90.1! Needless to say, this ambitious student is not hard to find!
