So, we’re a couple months into the semester, and the appeal of being the best, productive, student has officially worn off. If you’re anything like me then you know that going to the gym is a reoccurring thought but staying in to nap always seem to win. Our healthy diets are limited to the meals we save on Pinterest, and we’ve promised ourselves to save some money instead of spending it the moment the bit of green lands in our hands. Studying and keeping up with class and work takes prevalence over eating a decent meal and even sleeping.

So what gives? Does any of this sound like you? If so, welcome to the struggle bus. Take a seat, but don’t get too comfortable because I’m going to tell you how to dive-roll off.

 1. Sleep:

The coveted ‘S’ word. Most issues we face during the day are because our attitudes are terrible from sleep deprivation. But you don’t need me to tell you that. The best way to achieve an optimal amount of sleep starts with not waiting until last minute to get work done. Procrastination is not your friend, boo! Once you’ve got that down, try to limit the time you stare at a computer screen or your phone. Your body needs time to wind down, and if your brain is connected to the internet, it won’t.

2. Food:

Now look, we all like to snack, especially when studying, but what we have to do is choose the right things to snack on. Debbie Cakes? No. Grapes? YES! Feeding your brain the proper kind of food will not only keep your mind active and not sluggish, but it’ll also keep that body looking right.

3. Exercise:

Before you roll your eyes just hear me out. The gym, as awful as it can be, can end up being your best friend. Light cardio on the treadmill for thirty minutes can demolish almost any stressors in your life. Pumping weights or squatting to get that perfect summer booty can help relieve tension too. Who doesn’t want that?

4. Treat yo’self!

Take a well needed bubble bath with exfoliants! Visit a lake with a good book or take a walk through the arboretum. Pop open a bottle of wine (If you’re 21+) and watch your favorite shows on Netflix. Being a college student can be tough, so don’t forget to pat yourself on the back for all the accomplishments you’ve made that day.

Take care of your body and remember to go easy on yourself! Now get off this struggle bus, you’re too cute to be on it!
