Dj Teddi- Top Texas DJ and SFA Campus Celebrity

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at SFA chapter.

Anyone who has classes with  Radio/TV Broadcasting Senior Robyne Williams knows about her passion: DJ’ing. Robyne, known to the public as “DJ Teddi ”, is an award winning DJ from Houston, Texas. When she’s not working for KSAU 90.1 on campus as the most popular on air talent, she is at events or award shows all over Texas. She has even DJ’ed events on the SFA campus thrown by the Student Activities Association. She has a complete team that helps  her balance her studies and her job, including a manager, street team, and a public relations coordinator.

Her teachers are very flexible with her schedule. “At the beginning of the semester, I tell all of my professors that I have events and award shows I have to go to. Most of them understand. I haven’t had a teacher who hasnt worked with my DJ schedule.” Her team helps her manage her other activities such as working two jobs, and being the webmaster for the new KASU 90.1 website.

When asked what her goals were, she responded, “To become the most popular female DJ in America. It is hard for ladies to get in this industry, but I believe I have the skills and the gift of gab that will move me further.”

Robyne is a great networker , whose conversational skills have gotten her in the local newspaper, as a highlight on the monitors in the SFA Communications building, as well as two features in  magazine. She has been nominated for the “Best Female DJ” award at the “iDJ awards” an amazing three times since beginning her career in 2007. She is also a member of Core DJ Radio and the International Disc Jockey Trade Association.

Robyne’s motivating for staying in school is the experience she gets from professors who spent several years in the radio and television industry. She said, “You dont have to have a degree to work at a radio station, but that experience is what helps. ” Robyne also shared with us that she has two interviews scheduled at the famed radio stations, Hot 107.9 in Atlanta, Georgia and WEDR 99Jamz in Miami, Florida upon graduating this upcoming spring.

Jessika Davidson is a senior at Stephen F. Austin State University majoring in Radio/TV communications with an emphasis in news writing and a public relations/photojournalism double minor. From Houston, TX, the humorous and vivacious campus socialite came to Nacogdoches to escape the hustle and bustle of Texas' big city. When she's not hard at work at the campus radio or TV station, she's often doing community service projects around town with her sorority sisters of Gamma Sigma Sigma, of which she is the chapter president of. She also enjoys working at her jobs, one as a Master Control Operator for the KTRE-9 TV station and one as the owner of Jessika Davidson Photography, where she travels the state with her beloved nikon, affectionately named "Gary", to shoot weddings. She is beyond excited to be a campus correspondent for SFA, and hopes to become a video journalist (news reporter) or a host of a entertainment show.
