This is the first year in a while for me to be single during the holidays. I wish I had someone to look at Christmas lights with or make gingerbread houses, but this is not going to be a pity party. Instead, I am going to give you a few ideas on what you can do when being single during Christmas time.

Learning how to enjoy your alone time is truly a wonderful thing. You aren’t in the mood for being alone? Invite a friend.

1. go see christmas lights

Who says you have to be boo’d up when looking at Christmas lights? Get in your car, turn on your favorite Christmas tunes, and go to a light show. You can even go to some neighborhoods in your area and just look at those lights. I love to drive and listen to my favorite music, so this always makes me feel better, especially in the wintertime.

2. treat yourself

Do not ever feel selfish for going to eat lunch by yourself or getting your second coffee of the day. You don’t always have to be with someone to go out. Maybe go get your nails done, holiday-themed of course, or try the seasonal drinks at Starbucks. Whatever it is you have been wanting lately GO DO IT! You don’t have to wait on someone else to go with you.

3. make Christmas cookies

Eating always makes things better, well for me at least, especially some yummy cookies you made just for you. If you are not the type to eat a ton of cookies by yourself, make some for a loved one and hand deliver it. Baking is always fun, so add some music into the mix, and your night is set. I am currently obsessed with peppermint, so here is a link to a recipe for some heavenly-looking Sparkling Peppermint cookies.

I know being content with being single during the holidays is a hard pill to swallow, but if I can get through it, so can you. Enjoying the holidays doesn’t always mean being in a relationship, but spending time with yourself, friends, and family is what will get you through it.

Happy holidays and cheers to 2022!
