Before you get started with pumkin carving, if you want to perserve the pumpkin a little longer, you can soak the pumpkins in a bath of 3 parts water and 1 part bleach, and spray this mixture and vaseline or petroleum jelly on the inside and where you’ve carved!

  • Flower Carving

You can draw your own flower on a pumpkin to carve out or print out any flower stencil like this simple one and trace it onto the pumpkin!

  • Disney Carvings

Check out this site for a few stencils of princesses, villians, and other disney characters!

  • You can’t go wrong with cats:

Use this easy stencil or draw a face to carve out and attach whistkers and ears!

  • Sugar Skull

Make your own unique sugar skull design or use this stencil!

  • Star Wars Logo and Rebellion symbol

Team up with your bf and get a little geeky with it, which is what I did! We just google searched silhouettes of the images we wanted to carve, printed, and traced them onto our pumpkins, which you can do with any other image you can think of.

If you don’t want to carve a pumpkin, you can also paint it!

Here are a few ideas:

  • Simple and cute: a solid color pumpkin with a glittery stem!
  • Cool chevron, polkadots, and stripes!
  • Tribal and chic patterns.
  • Just dip in glitter!

  • Cook up some cute donuts.
  • Show some Sewanee spirit! YSR.
  • And of course you can never go wrong with a monogram!

Happy Halloween!
