Well it’s that time of year again, time to celebrate how much you love the important people in your life. For some people, it’s about you and your significant other going out for a nice dinner, or exchanging gifts, for others it’s about hanging out with friends and celebrating being single, and for some people it’s a completely arbitrary date meant to give money to the card makers and chocolate sellers. And, of course, there are some who are running around panicking because they totally forgot about Valentine’s Day and their friend/boyfriend/girlfriend is probably expecting some kind of acknowledgement. Never fear! These last minute gift ideas will get you through.
1. Chocolate
This one seems obvious, but there aren’t a lot of people who don’t appreciate a little bit of sweetness on occasion and chocolate is EVERYWHERE right now. If you can’t possibly get off campus between now and V-Day you can always purchase some HERE. If you and your SO are a little more daring or you’re going for a risqué gift, they also sell edible bras.
2. Game Night!
Maybe you and your SO aren’t into valentines day, or you and your friends want to chill and be single. Some people feel the need to slide to the opposite end of the spectrum if they don’t want to do the whole nine romance yards. If you like Cards Against Humanity, but want to try something new and out of the box, try this sarcastic, miserable, hilarious board game Gloom.
3. Dinner In
Can’t afford a fancy dinner, but want to do something fancier than Clurg or Pub? Try making your own dinner! Stick to the basics, unless you have a better than average dorm kitchen. Something easy, like pasta or even a frozen pizza can still mean a lot. For a recipe suggestion, you can check out Allyou.com for stuff that looks much fancier (and more expensive) than it really is.
4. Dessert
This one combines the best of number one and number three. Make dessert! It’s Simpler and cheaper than buying jewelry, but without lacking the heartfelt touch. Plus, you get to enjoy it with them! You can find some super easy, small sized desserts right here
5. Time
I cannot emphasize enough how important this is. It isn’t about what you get them it’s about putting time into them. We are all so busy that just giving up some time in our schedules is extremely meaningful. If you didn’t have time to get a gift, try just giving up some time to spend with them. We make a big deal out of Valentine’s Day, but sometimes the little things are way better than something big but impersonal. It’s just a day, so have fun with it!
Happy valentines day, all!
