This One’s for the Boys Back Home

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Seton Hall chapter.

In college, life seems to be so busy. As we dedicate our time to our schoolwork, various clubs and organizations, adventuring with friends, and keeping up with social lives, we easily forget to stop and appreciate who is responsible for giving us the life we lead. When anything seems to be too much to handle or when stress builds sky high, my mom is always someone I can count on to motivate me to overcome any adversity that comes my way. Growing up I never realized how much I would dedicate most of the good things that come along in life to my mom. Now I realize that even though we don’t have that type of relationship where we communicate at all hours of the day, I could not imagine growing up with a mom that is as head strong, independent, and badass than my own. College is a time that you truly realize whom in life is important to you. Before this time, I took most of the things my mom did for me for granted. She has always forced me to push myself out of my comfort zone, to do better and do not dwell on the setbacks that came my way. Today, I truly realize that the love I receive from my mom can never be matched. Although I do not always validate it enough as I should, my mom is my rock and pillar to any success. I believe it’s the time we spend away from our support systems, that makes us realize how important they are. One of the most valuable things that I have concluded after moving away from home is to never take the people who are always in your corner for granted. My mom keeps me going, and I’ll never be able to repay her for all the things she has done for me. Here’s to the mamas!!!
