Meet EC: Senior Editor Jillian Lope

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Seton Hall chapter.

Meet our Senior Editor Jillian Lope! She’s a recovering study abroad student who lives for a good laugh and killer grammar.

1. What is your favorite part about Her Campus?

My favorite part of Her Campus is that it is structured, but we still have a lot of freedom to write what we want. Her Campus covers all different topics in order to shed light on everything important to collegiate women. Women can voice their own opinions whether its fashion or politics and embrace an organization that promotes creativity and empowerment every week.

2. What are some of your secrets to a killer grammar game?

Definitely reread anything you write whether it’s on social media, in a paper for class, or something for your internship. Proof reading is so important for good grammar. By rereading multiple times, you ensure that you’re putting your best work out there. I feel like if I post something on social media, I’m more considered with grammar than the picture. I would suggest never submitting anything in the workforce or to a professor unless you double check your grammar because you want your best self out there and bad grammar just isn’t cute.

3. What is your dream job?

OMG don’t ask me this! My dream job would be to have a position abroad, preferably in Europe, and to be working for an international NGO or IGO. One that spreads some sort of awareness or advocacy for human rights or environmental law and conservation. Or something simple like being the Secretary General of the United Nations.

4. How do you balance, clubs, school, and interning?

I always make a list of the things I have to do and then complete them in order of importance. I budget my time well and focus on things that need to be finished first. Sometimes I’ll have to stay in on weekends so I can do assignments due the upcoming week. I wish I had more time for Netflix and naps, but it’s a sacrifice I’m willing to make.

5. What is your favorite part about Seton Hall?

My favorite part about SHU is that it’s big enough where you don’t know everyone but you can still find really good friends. We also have smaller classes without lecture halls and all your professors know your name. We’re not just numbers here. Seton Hall has such a great community because of its size and I think that really sets it apart from other schools.

While striving to become a high maintenance magazine girl, Rachel in the mean time, is a Senior Diplomacy major at Seton Hall. Obsessions include: her dog, airplanes, horoscopes (Cosmo astrologers are n e v e r wrong), and her sorority. When asked where she plans to be in 10 years Rachel responded "In 10 years I hope I'm either a very successful NYC woman or on vacation...either will do really."
