This week’s Campus Celeb is none other than Alpha Sigma Tau’s very own president, Julia Beyer. Her enthusiastic and diligent nature makes for a dedicated leader who is looking forward to a successful year with her sorority.
Name: Julia Beyer
Year: Junior
Major/Minor: Criminal Justice Major, English Minor
Hometown: Boonton, New Jersey
Her Campus (HC): Why did you decide to go out for Greek life?
Julia Beyer (JB): I was a commuter my freshman year who would go to class, then immediately go home afterwards. Going Greek allowed me to find what was missing at Seton Hall University, a sense of home, along with friends both on campus and around the country.
HC: How did Alpha Sigma Tau stand out to you among the other sororities?
JB: When I met the women of Alpha Sigma Tau, I immediately felt welcomed and loved. Every single sister went the extra mile to ensure that I was happy, and that really stood out to me.
HC: What have you enjoyed the most out of being a sister of Alpha Sigma Tau?
JB: Being a sister of Alpha Sigma Tau has allowed me to become a better version of myself. With my sisters by my side, I was able to become a more well-rounded and confident person.
HC: Why did you run for president?
JB: I ran for president because I like responsibility. I see myself as a leader and thought that I could lead my chapter into great successes.
HC: Can you tell us some of the responsibilities of a chapter president?
JB: As chapter president, you truly oversee everything. You handle a lot of the background events, such as planning composites, corresponding with the national headquarters, along with ensuring that the chapter is running smoothly and efficiently.
HC: What achievements do you wish to make during your time as president?
JB: I hope that I can bring the sisters closer than they have ever been before. We are a strong sisterhood, but I believe that there is always room for improvement. I want to create small changes that will ensure the chapter runs effectively.
HC: Since it’s President’s Day, do you happen to have a favorite president?
JB: My favorite president, besides myself, would be Abraham Lincoln. He was a man with a mind beyond his years, who really changed America for the better. He saw what was wrong with America and took steps to alter the legislation until it became what he expected. He was a great leader who I admire greatly.
