5 Things That Are Okay To Do In College

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Seton Hall chapter.

College isn’t easy. We can’t always have good days, and it’s okay to recognize that fact. Sometimes we just need to take a moment and realize that we’re only human. Some days we just need a break, so here are five things that are really okay to do in college:

Ask for an extension.

Professors understand that sometimes you have more going on in your life than just their class. If you go to them with your dilemma, most will be understanding of the situation and give you that much needed extension on your paper. Just don’t wait until the night before!

Skip a class.

This definitely shouldn’t be your go to, but if you feel like everything is falling apart around you… you can afford to skip a class once. Sometimes we just need a break and that’s okay!

Have a night in with friends.

College isn’t always about hitting the coolest parties and staying up until 3 a.m. Sometimes it’s good to just spend the night in watching movies and hanging out with friends. Plus a night in is a way better bonding time than spending it in a sweaty, crowded room with 100 other college kids.

Sometimes you can only save one person — yourself.

You can’t save everyone and you can’t focus on all their problems. Sometimes you have to look out for number one. YOU! Focus on yourself first and then others. Because at the end of the day only you can do what’s best for you.

Live your best life. Learn from your mistakes. Keep moving forward.

We’re never going to be perfect, but that doesn’t mean we have to make the same mistakes over again. Just live your best life and learn from your experiences along the way. It’s only going to shape you into a more amazing and mature YOU.
