For those who consider themselves hip-hop fans, the drop of “What A Time To Be Alive” was easily one of those most exciting things to happen in 2015. For those who aren’t familiar, “What A Time To Be Alive” is Drake and Future’s latest mixtape. The album dropped on September 20th, 2015. The 11 track album was produced by Metro Boomin, Allen Ritter, Boi-1da, Neenyo, Detail, Frank Dukes, Southside, and Noah “40” Shebib.

Following the drop of Future’s third album, “Dirty Sprite 2,” on July 17th, 2015, rumors and speculations of a Future/Drake mixtape started to float around twitter and other social media sites – especially after one of the songs on that album was “Where Ya At” (ft. Drake). Pictures of Drake and Future in the studio were making their way around Instagram and Twitter—the internet had gone wild.

With that being said, the two rappers didn’t say much when it came to the speculations, but fans were still hopeful. Then, on September 19th, Drake officially announced the mixtape on his Instagram – posting the album’s cover art and release date. After that, Future and Drake took to Instagram to promote the hell out of the album as it dropped, considering they did no promotion pre-release (besides Drake subtly hinting at it).

Their promotion of the album via Instagram was actually quite impressive – so much so that the album debuted at #1 on the US Billboard 200 albums chart. So as a courtesy, here’s a compilation of the Instagram promotion and rise of “What A Time To Be Alive,” as it stands (in order).

Via Drake’s instagram (@champagnepapi) – emojis are clearly his thing.

Via Future’s Instagram (@future) – clearly not as into the gram as Drake.
