October is Domestic Violence Awareness month, and Seahawks superstar Russell Wilson is taking a stand and passing the peace.
In accordance with the Why Not You Foundation, Wilson has started the Pass the Peace campaign – a campaign determined to raise money and awareness about the issues of domestic violence. Wilson and the Foundation are asking people to help bring light to the situation by taking a picture of themselves throwing up a peace sign and nominating two people to do the same.
On the Why Not You Foundation’s website Wilson humbly admits that he was a bully growing up, but was saved by his faith at the age of 14. He highlights the fact that football is not a gentle game, and that the on-field aggression that all players hold should be strictly confined to the boundaries of the field. While the NFL has recently become synonymous with crimes such as domestic violence, it is refreshing to see that Wilson is becoming a beacon of hope for the league at a time where they need it the most.
