NY Fashion Week Fall 2016

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Seattle U chapter.

Following fashion can be difficult as a college student. How can I be expected to refresh my wardrobe every season, especially when designer brands sell t-shirts that cost more than my monthly rent? It may take a little extra work, but I’m still dedicated to the cause and follow trends while keeping my poor bank account out of the red. Check out some inexpensive and equally fashionable pieces that closely resemble trends seen on the runway in New York this season.

1. Turtlenecks (seen at Thomas Maier, TSE, and Orley): Keep your neck, arms, and torso warm with pieces from Joe Fresh, Wallis, and Missguided.

2. Going Goth (seen at Rodarte, Marc Jacobs, and Fenty x Puma): Indulge yourself in black lace (like this Forever 21 dress), chunky black boots (like these booties from Shoptiques), black layers, black chokers (like this one from Nasty Gal), black lipstick; anything, really, as long as it’s black and obscure.

3. Metallic Silver (seen at Opening Ceremony, Tory Burch, and Rachel Zoe): Shine on in a cool color that’s guaranteed to catch everyone’s eye, with pieces from J. Crew, Shoptiques, and ASOS).

4. Red Floral (seen at Anna Sui, Alice + Olivia, and McQ Alexander McQueen): Wrap yourself in something sweet, with pieces from Romwe, Forever 21, and Bobeau.

5. The Written Word (seen at DKNY, VFiles, and Alexander Wang): Skip the conversation by wearing what you mean with pieces from Forever 21, H&M, and Boohoo.
