It’s December and the holiday season is officially underway! Nine days before Santa comes to put presents under the Christmas tree, another group of people come together to exchange presents for the Jewish holiday Hanukkah.

Celebrating Hanukkah during an otherwise holly jolly Christmas season can be difficult, but it’s so much fun if it’s done right. Here’s a How-To:

1. Try an ugly Hanukkah sweater on for size.

That’s right: ugly sweaters don’t just come in red and green.

Enjoy more ugly Hanukkah sweaters here.

2. Check out some Hanukkah music.

Sure, there’s not a huge selection, but Haim did a pretty rad cover of the Hanukkah song.

3. Experiment with a yarmulke.

There are some crazy yarmulkes out there that can easily replace this season’s most fashionable hats. See Drake:

You can even get your pets in on the tradition!

4. Take this opportunity to light some candles.

Candles do a great job of creating an ambience in your home, and the menorah gives you 8 candles (9 if you include the shamash). And even if you don’t technically own a menorah, there are plenty of ways you can get creative and make your own.

5. Settle down with a Hanukkah movie.

Again, slim pickings here, but you can’t deny that A Rugrats Chanukah and 8 Crazy Nights are holiday classics.

6. Seriously indulge in some awesome Hanukkah food.

Latkes and applesauce, some good old-fashioned challah, kugel, and SO much more. There’s nothing we modern Jews do better than eat.

With eight truly crazy nights, Hanukkah’s a pretty cool contribution to the holiday season. We hope this How- To guide will help you to celebrate Hanukkah in style.

Happy holidays!
