It’s about time we make another playlist!

Music can sometimes be the best medicine, especially when school is overwhelming and life is just coming at you at a hundred different angles. My favorite way to wake up in the morning and unwind at night is listening to music, so without further adieu, here is a mix of tunes that my pals and I have made to get us through spring fever and get us excited for summer!

As always the playlist is linked in the article AND it’s collaborative so whatever you’ve been jamming to lately, feel free to add it to the list!

#1 “i’m so tired…” by Lauv and Troy Sivan

Whether you are listening to this song for the first time or know every word, this song is undeniably catchy. There’s something so simple and charming about Lauv and Troy Sivan’s music, but when you pair the two…I’m in LOVE! This song is not a new one but everytime I hear it is like listening to it for the first time. A must-have dance track to get us in the groove!

#2 “Good as Hell” by Lizzo

To put it simply, this song makes you feel good as…well you get the point! My friend Ginny has been singing this nonstop lately, no naturally, it’s stuck in my head! I love listening to this song when I’m getting ready in the morning, or when I need a little extra pep in my step during the midterm season. You just can’t go wrong with Lizzo.

#3 “Desconocidos” by Mau y Ricky

Confession time! I’m a sucker for Spanish music, it’s practically all I listen to. (Check out my playlist “Corazón” if you’re interested!) Titled “Strangers” this Latin hit has been on the charts for the last week as Mau y Ricky along with Camilo and Manuel Turizo sing of two strangers falling in love. The song will have you dancing subtly in public and singing it under your breath. One listen and you’re hooked!

#4 “Lose Lose Lose” by SWMRS

There’s nothing I love more than knowing what my friends are listening to! Alexandra H. recommended this one to be on the list, and it has me losin’ my mind (pun intended). I don’t know about you but I’m always in need of a good, cathartic song to lose my mind to (haha I did it again). This one is fun to listen to when you need to let out all your energy and have a mini rager in your dorm room!

#5 “all the good girls go to hell” by Billie Eilish

Queen Billie and her new album When We All Fall Asleep Where Do We Go has been dominating the music world, so she was an obvious addition to our list! This one’s one of my favorites on the album, equally creepy as it is badass and a lot of fun to sing along to! Her song “Bad Guy” is also too good not to mention!

#6 “Baby I Love Your Way” by Peter Frampton

This song is an oldie but a goodie. I can’t tell you how many times I listen to this song solely because it reminds me of summer nights. It’s got a sweet message and a loving melody that makes me smile every time. Forever one of my favorites!

#7 “Desde Que Te Fuiste” by Cosme

This song is the definition of summer for me. It’s the lighthearted conga, the maracas, and the subtle salsa-charm that gets me movin’ every time. It’s a good tune to get you movin’ in the morning and fun to listen to when doing dishes at night!

#8 “All Too Well” by Taylor Swift

Oddly enough Alex M. sent me this at the same time I was playing it on guitar! I don’t know why, but something always takes me back to good ole’ T-Swift, and this song in particular holds a special place in my heart.

#9 “Summertime Magic” by Childish Gambino

This was on my summer playlist, and after watching Donald Glover’s Guava Island with Rihanna, my love for this song has been reawakened! This song makes me think of walks on the beach and summer drives with friends.

#10 “Cheers” by The Slaps

If you read my Fall Playlist article back in October, you know how much I love to represent the musicians I’m related to. The Slaps, (my cousin’s band) is good for any occasion. If you don’t believe me, take a listen. Whether you’re driving on the highway with your windows down or chillin’ in a hammock in the quad, this band is a go-to for just about any mood.

#11 “Amigos Con Derechos” by Reik and Maluma

Thanks to Alex M. I have another buddy I can sing this song with! This song is fun and a good one to blast morning, noon and night. I’m a huge Maluma and Reik fan, and this duet is one of my favorites. It’s catchy, fun to sing along to (even if you don’t speak Spanish), and a good spring hit!

#12 “Pink Skies” LANY

LANY will always be one of my favorite bands to listen to, rain or shine. “Pink Skies” paints a picture of a day, a perfect night, and a perfect life. To its melody, we ride into the sunset and are left dancing to its dreamy pop beat.

I know what you’re probably thinking, “Cec, this playlist is so random.” Well let me tell ya, it’s only gonna get weirder so you better embrace it and let the music move you! I hope by now you’ve got a little more of a pep in your step, have had a chance to escape from whatever’s on your mind and just listen to some good music with your friends. Music will always be my favorite way to start and end my day, and one of my favorite things to share with those around me. Wherever you are, whatever you’re up to, whoever you’re with, make the world your dance floor and sing at the top of your lungs!
