11 Reasons We Should All Be Little More Like Leslie Knope

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Seattle U chapter.

If you have not watched Parks and Recreation from start to finish, you are missing out on a beautiful, hilarious show. The main character, Leslie Knope, has resonated with many of us because of her charming, bold, and unapologetic personality. Along with just being a relatable character throughout the seven wonderful seasons, Leslie has taught us many valuable things. Here are a few (of many) reasons we should all be a little more Knope-like.

1.      She reminds us that self-love is important.

2.      She doesn’t try to hide her romantic feelings.

3.      She is not afraid to admit her hate of healthy foods.

4.      She can turn a seemingly negative situation into something positive.

5.      She isn’t afraid to call out privilege.

6.      She admits that we all have bad days.

7.      She wholeheartedly compliments her peers.

8.      She never fails to put friendship first.

9.      She is always there to encourage others, especially when they need it most.

10.   She refuses to stick to the status quo.

11.   She is fully aware of her power as a woman and isn’t apologetic about it.

We all have a thing or two to learn from Leslie Knope, and I hope this can provide little goodness to your day. You know what they say: “A little Parks and Recreation marathon a day keeps the doctor away!”

Hey, hi, hello! My name is April and contrary to belief, I was not born in April—but that's okay. I enjoy (many) cups of coffee, '80s romcoms, and film photography. I write about things that I care about, so hopefully you find some interest in them as well.
I'm Skyler. I go to Seattle University in hopes of earning a degree in Creative Writing. I love to discuss and write about LGBTQ politics, fashion, and I spend way too much time scrolling through Tumblr.
