Going to coffee shops as a college student is a very popular activity, especially when the library is jam packed with students around midterms and finals. It is nice to get away from campus to work on homework every so often. Personally, I prefer going to coffee shops instead of the library because it is much more relaxing, and honestly more aesthetically pleasing. There are so many cafes to go to, but here are a few of my favorite places near SDSU.

Communal Coffee – North Park
This is one of the most popular coffee shops in San Diego. So many girls go here to get cute pictures because, not only is it a coffee shop, but it also has a flower store and a succulent nursery! The inside has so many cute decorations and I love it because of how pretty it is inside. The coffee is also incredibly delicious (I recommend getting the iced rose latte!). While you’re there, don’t miss out on their amazing avocado toast as well!
Better Buzz – Hillcrest
This location of Better buzz just opened up recently and it is the biggest coffee shop that I have been in. This is great because it is usually a problem to find seating inside most coffee shops because the space is typically very small. However, because Better Buzz is larger than most other shops, you never struggle to find seating on either of its two floors. They also have a ton of cute lights hanging from the ceiling and a large array of menu items, so you’re bound to find something you like!
Lestat’s Coffee House
There are three different Lestat’s but the one on Adams Ave is my favorite. What I love about Lestat’s is that they are open 24 hours a day seven days a week. The inside reminds me of the set of Friends. All of their chairs and tables are different sizes and colors and they also have a variety of different artwork that covers all of the walls. This shop is very soothing and it creates a relaxed vibe while studying.
The Living Room – La Jolla
The Living Room is not somewhere to just get coffee, they also have a full menu as well. I like this place because they allow you to come in and study, but they also have full meals in case you get hungry while studying there all day. There is even a close location to SDSU that is only about five minutes away!
