Cold Weather Essentials

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at SCU chapter.

Winter Quarter at Santa Clara can get pretty chilly, especially if you don’t have the right gear to get through this season. Between the rain that seems to never end and the flu season that has been unforgiving, how can you not wish for spring? Unfortunately, we all must endure the dark days. Here are some products to make this season a little more warm and comfortable.

These Polartec fleece lined leggings from Athleta will get you through the winter. Regular leggings are great, but have a hard time keeping out the cold wind. Since these leggings are insulated with fleece, your walk to your 8 am is sure to be cozy.

Finding a good coat that’s warm, inexpensive, and cute is difficult in California, as most Californians – myself included – do not truly know what cold is. Tobi.com offers great coats and jackets that will save you from the cold and keep you looking stylish.

Find them at Tobi.

Although the rain has been good for alleviating the drought, it can destroy our shoes. Hunter boots are perfect to get you through the rainy season.

Another consequence of the cold weather is dry skin. To prevent this, I recommend St. Ives Nourish & Soothe Oatmeal & Shea Butter Body Lotion.

Available at most drug stores.

School is a place where it is easy to catch a cold, especially during this year’s flu season. To keep your immune system ready to fight any germs it may encounter, take Sambucol® daily. This black elderberry supplement will help you stay healthy this winter.

Sold at most pharmacies and drug stores.

Hot beverages are also an excellent way to keep you cozy this winter, and some thermoses just don’t cut it when it comes to keeping drinks warm. S’well bottles, however, keep your drinks cold for up to twenty-four hours and hot for up to twelve.
