The sun is too happy today

And I don’t know if I feel better or worse now

Now that there’s a name to the sirens

A name to their tears on their lawn

The sun is too happy today

It seems wrong to have such warmth

On a day where our minds are so cloudy

And we can’t seem to move

The sun is too happy today

“I’m so sorry, I’m here for you”

Is all I can seem to say

I’ll send my love, unimportant in this moment

Because in this moment

The sun is too goddamn happy

And I just picture your face as you catch the mail

And throw it into the bucket

Such a simple act

But that’s how I know you

I didn’t know you

But I really did

And I wanted to know you more

But I knew your smile and your laugh

I knew the ease you brought with you

I knew that the sun was always happy with you around

So why does it smile today
