There are many reasons why some people hate writing, but there are always “other” people. Like Gema Guevara, a student at Southern with a passion for writing.
“I love, love writing. I wouldn’t call it a hobby. It’s more of a soul-calling. If I’m not writing, I’m thinking about writing. Shoot, if I don’t write, my self-confidence plummets. Not kidding.”
Gema loves writing so much that she has decided to persue it, at Southern she is an English major, ” What can I say? I’m a bookworm. I figured that if I was going to spend money to go to school, I might as well study something I’m in love with.”
Books are a form of escapism, they provide readers with another world, a temporary escape. Gema loves books as much as she loves writing, perhaps it all stems from the same root.
“I’m addicted to buying books. I have a bookshelf weighed down with books that I haven’t yet read, so, naturally, I buy more. Is there a Bookworm Anonymous that I can join?”
