6 Self Care Ideas

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at SCSU chapter.

I am not one to judge when it comes to being too busy for literally anything else. There are times when I forget things outside of my classes, and/or internship. I am trying to finish a paper in time, responding to discussions for my online class, writing press releases for my internship, and when I am not doing any tasks for other people I am eating, showering, or sleeping.

Many people love the rush, love running and being busy. But it isn’t healthy to go, go, go, and not pause for a moment. When you put yourself in overdrive it can be tough to find a balance between heathy, and ahead of the game. When I have a lot to do, and I finish that list, I decide I need to take some time for myself, but I often feel guilty. I’ll sit and watch t.v. and think about how I am sitting here, wasting precious time I could be using to work on something for school. It’s crazy.

We all need time to ourselves, to decompress, to find ourselves amidst the crazy of our lives. Here are some self-care ideas for when you need to just be you.

1. Watch your favorite T.V. show/movie

Catch up on anything you’ve had to miss during the week because of prior commitments.

2. Read a book you’ve been wanting to read for a while now

When you read you transport yourself into another life, another world entirely!

3. Face mask!!!!

Pamper your skin, it endures all kinds of air particles.

4. Take a delicious smelling, bubble bath

Put on your favorite YouTuber! (mine is Zoë…aka Zoella) Relax!

5. Sleep in

We all need sleep, that term “sleep is for the weak” is ridiculous. Sleep is necessary if you want to function, if you want to live.

6. Drink water!!

It’s easy to forget to hydrate when you’re running left and right, carry a bottle with you.
