Halloween has always been one of my personal favorite times of the year. From the fall leaves changing, the pumpkin carvings, the classic Pillsbury pumpkin cookies, and ESPECIALLY dressing up in whatever costume you come up with this year, how can you NOT like this holiday?!

Unfortunately, with everything going on in world (like you know that global pandemic that was only supposed to take two weeks… biggest lie of my life), Halloween is definitely going to look a little different this year. While social distancing and masks are still the biggest concern, this does not mean that you still can’t have a little fun this spooky season!

Although nothing will be as spooky as everything that’s been going on in 2020, here are some of my favorite COVID safe activities to do this modified Halloween season:

Pumpkin Patch

In the safest way possible with following all guidelines, go to your local pumpkin patch and pick out your favorite pumpkin. Whether that be a smooth orange one or a cute white pumpkin or one of those pumpkins with the little bubble warts on them, they are all perfect just the same! Take some cute pictures and bring them home to carve them! Don’t forget that you could roast and eat the pumpkin seeds!

Spooky Movie Night

This far into quarantine, I know we’ve ALLLL had our fill of movie nights. But like c’mon, you can’t have Halloween without enjoying some of the classic movies on 13 Nights of Halloween. Grab some pumpkin Pillsbury sugar cookies, put on your $1 Target Halloween socks, and put on a spooky movie! Some of my favorites have always been Halloweentown High, Hocus Pocus or if you want a scarier, classic thriller—Scream!

Drive-thru Halloween Lights

If you’re from the Scranton area like all of us right now, you can take a 20-minute drive down to Lakeland Orchards and enjoy their drive-thru lights! Just a little twist on your usual Christmas lights, but they’re definitely still a great alternative to enjoying this spooky season in the safety of your own car. If you’re not from the Scranton area, check out your local businesses to see if your town is doing something similar!

Dress Up Anyways

It may seem a little anti-climactic to dress up in your cute costume and not go anywhere, but own it anyways, or find a safe way to show it off! It could be just grabbing a friend and doing a little photoshoot to drop on the gram or a small, safe gathering where you all wear costumes. You could even try to wear a costume that needs a mask! Halloween may not be the same this year, but you could still make the most of this situation and have some fun with it!

Just an occupational therapy major that loves to nap. Can't live without puppies, coffee, mac n' cheese, traveling, or shopping. Follow her on Instagram @danielle_921 to see her life in little squares!
