Scranton’s Very Own, Lauren Pagan

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Scranton chapter.

Name: Lauren Pagan

Hometown: Richmond Hill

Year: 2017

Major: Nursing

Lauren Pagan, one of The University of Scranton’s fabulous nursing students took an externship at The Emergency Department at Lenox Hill Hospital over the summer. “I liked the fast pace and variety of cases that I was able to see,” Pagan said. Her time over the summer gave her an insight of what life will be post graduation.

HC: What made you want to pursue nursing as a career?

LP: I’ve always loved helping and nursing allows me to help people when they need it the most.

HC: How has your time as a nursing student impacted your life?

LP: It has taught me how important time management is, but I now think that I have every single disease that I have ever learned about.

HC: What was the best and worst thing you’ve encountered during your time at clinicals?

LP: The best would have to be seeing open-heart surgery and the worst, without a doubt, is losing a patient.

HC: Aside from nursing, what is your most memorable experience at The University of Scranton?

LP: Being a part of ISP and going to El Salvador with some of the most amazing people I’ve met at Scranton

HC: What did you do over in El Salvador?

LP: We spent most of our time in a local village called Las Delicias. We helped build a house and helped to take care of the children of the village while their parents were at work.

HC: How do you spend your free time?

LP: If I’m not hanging out with my friends, I’m probably laying in bed, watching Law and Order.

HC: If you could travel anywhere, where would it be and why?

LP: GREECE! My cousins go every summer and I’ve always been so jealous! It’s just so beautiful.

HC: What is something no one knows about you?

LP: No matter how hard I try, I can’t touch my toes.

HC: Who is your role model?

LP: My older brother. He is a genius and totally normal, it’s just not fair.

HC: If you could tell a first year student a piece of advice, what would it be?

LP: College really does fly by, so make the most of every moment. Word hard, Play hard.

HC: Lastly, describe your friends in one word.

LP: FAMILY
