My Top Ten Christmas Songs for This Holiday Season

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Scranton chapter.

‘Tis the season for those wonderfully catchy tunes! To kick off your holiday, here are my top five Christmas songs that everyone knows and my top five favorite Christmas songs that find themselves flying under the radar for most.

Popular Christmas:

These are the songs I grew up listening to every holiday. I know there are different versions of each song, but these versions are my personal favorites and I highly recommend them!

1. The Twelve Pains of Christmas by Bob Rivers

2. Rockin’ Around The Christmas Tree by Brenda Lee

3. I Want A Hippopotamus for Christmas by Gayle Peevey

4. Mele Kalikimaka by Bing Crosby and The Andrews Sisters

5. Santa Baby by Eartha Kitt

Under The Radar Christmas Songs:

These are some songs that I discovered as I grew up and became my own independent person. Some of them are sweet, some of them are funny, but all of them are on my Christmas playlist.

1. Nothing For Christmas by New Found Glory

2. Fool’s Holiday by All Time Low

3. Christmas On My Own by Picture Us Tiny

4. The Night Santa Went Crazy by Weird Al Yankovic

5. This Christmas (I’ll Burn It To The Ground) by Set It Off

These songs are coming from a person who works retail and listens to Christmas music for 40 hours a week starting December 1st. I am not a fan of and never have been a fan of Christmas music, but these are still the songs I like and play even after a long 8 hours of Mariah Carey’s voice blasting over the speakers.

I am an Early and Primary Childhood Education Major who loves to bake and paint. I also love writing books in my spare time.
