As I look back on my soon-to-be chapter-ending college year, there has always been one constant throughout my four years. That one constant has been my Her Campus chapter. All I have been wanting to do most days is just pause life at this moment, but since I do not have the power to do that, and the days keep moving, I have been writing one last love letter to Her Campus and all the amazing people I have met along the way!
No matter what academic struggles or social worries I was going through, I always had Her Campus. When I say Her Campus, I don’t just mean the club, but the people who make it more than a club and into a loving community. I have been so blessed to have met so many intelligent and kindhearted people through Her Campus who I will forever call my friends. Her Campus didn’t just give me friendships, but it gave me confidence, a voice, and a place where I truly felt like I belonged.
Looking back to freshman year, I do not think I would have ever imagined myself being co-president of this club for not just one year, but two years. I also would not have imagined all the bonds I have made with these girls! In my freshman year, I was randomly told about this club from one of my sister’s friends who at the time was president of Her Campus. Looking back now, that moment was such a blessing to me because it opened so many opportunities! Two girls who I met during my freshman year really exemplified and showed me my love for this club and the work we do. They were Aimee and Bella. They have both shown me what it means to be an amazing, kind, and thoughtful leader! I take everything they have taught me and continue to grow our love for this amazing community. No amount of thank you’s are big enough for the two of them. I love you both so much!!
Thank you to everyone who trusted me and all the social media Co’s when it came to our social media pages. Being able to take my ideas and everyone else’s creativity and turn them into posts, stories, and content for our chapter has been one of the most fun and fulfilling parts of this experience. All the late-night texts, Canva time on 1st floor DeNaples, and the chaotic and laughing moments in between with all my Co’s trying to figure out our themes or next post meant the most. I cannot wait to hype up all the new content to come next year!!!
Her Campus, not just for me but for so many of its members, has been a place where people have been able to grow and find their voices and passions. Whether that has been through writing articles or creating social media content, with each new piece, more confidence was built in every person. It has been so special to watch people step out of their comfort zones, share their ideas with everyone, and realize the impact their voices can have! If I was able to help even one person find a place where they feel seen, heard, and like they truly belong, then I know I have done something right.
Her Campus to me is always knowing you have a group of girls cheering you on through life. No matter where I will end up after college or what path I will take, I know my friends from Her Campus will always be cheering me on and rooting for me. I cannot believe me and every other senior apart of this chapter are graduating. From my freshman year roommate, Dia and I being the only members in our grade to now ending with 21 HC seniors by our side is surreal! It has been such a joy to grow up, hang out during events, meetings, and making everyone chat with me on first floor DeNaples during the years! I must give a shoutout to the people I have worked side by side with being co-presidents with: Brenna and Faith! As someone who is a very controlling person, they helped me realize that I will always have people to lean on for support. We always had each other’s back, and I am so thankful I got to lead the club with both of them. I am also so grateful for all the executive board members that I have been blessed to meet and get so close with throughout each year. Each group of women I have worked with brought such amazing energy and light. These girls made the club come to life and without their help and brilliant ideas nothing would have come to life. Your hard work has never gone unnoticed; thank you for everything.
To the executive team that will be continuing Her Campus: you all will always have someone cheering you on in life as long as I am here! I have had the amazing privilege of getting close to each one of you and I am so happy to be able to call all of you, my friends. Thank you for continuing the love of this club and what it stands for! Bianca and Lila, there is no one else I would rather be passing all my HC knowledge and leftover samples to; you will both be AMAZING co-presidents!!!
I truly owe my success in this club and my college career to everyone who I have ever interacted with that has helped and shaped me to become who I am today. I owe it all to them. Though it saddens me to write this and leave this chapter, I am beyond excited to watch the amazing and inspiring work that will continue to grow from the girls that I have been watching succeed in their roles and now lead the chapter. There is no one else I would rather pass this amazing Her Campus torch down to than them. It has been an honor being a part of this community all four years, because of everyone, I have been changed for good!
