How to Get Through the Mid-Semester Speed Bump

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Scranton chapter.

Everyone knows: college is hard. The middle of the semester is one of the hardest times to get through- you’re tired, stressed, want to cuddle your pets, and the weather starts getting cold. It’s the perfect combination to catch the mid-semester blues. Continue reading to find out some helpful ways to get over that speed bump!

Take a Step Back & Breathe!
The first thing you can do for yourself is take a step back, clear your mind and breathe. Get in some comfy clothes, grab your favorite Starbucks drink (treat yo’ self), sit outside and clear your mind. Get rid of the distractions and just breathe. You will get through this.

Hit the Gym!
Nothing clears my mind than a solid run or lifting session. There’s something about getting lost in a workout that leaves you less stressed and relaxed by the end of your workout.

Get Organized!
Use this time to reorganize your planner, and finally clean off your cluttered desk. Once you have a clear workspace, you will be able to relax more since you’ll be less distracted by things on your desk. This also goes with your notebooks and folders. Get rid of all the unnecessary sticky notes and scrap pieces of paper cluttering your notes. Keep them neat and tidy!

Binge Watch NETFLIX
You know you want to anyway, so use this time as an excuse to binge watch your favorite show, or start a new one! But don’t over do it! You’re not completely done with the semester!

Take a Walk in the Park
My fellow Scrantonians, we all know that Nay Aug is GORGEOUS this time of the year. Put down the books, grab a friend and take a nice stroll in your local park.

Remember: YOU CAN DO THIS!Whether you’re a seasoned midterm veteran or an over-caffeinated freshman—don’t worry, you’ll survive. Midterms just mean that Thanksgiving is closely approaching and so is winter break. Hang in there Royals!

Straight from Central New Jersey, yes it does exist, Sarah is a senior biology major at the Univeristy of Scranton. When she's not studying, she enjoys rowing for the U, training for marathons that she forces herself to do, and having the college experience with her friends. Her favorite Starbucks drink is a venti iced coffee, black, because she likes to live dangerously. She's an owner of two goldfish whose names are Brandi and Bacardi, and she loves all things America. Xoxo
