Get Ready With Me: My Spring/Summer Beauty Routine

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Scranton chapter.

As we approach the warmer months of the year (everybody’s favorite), I always find myself prioritizing skincare and natural beauty more as opposed to a full face of makeup in the winter. I hardly ever wear foundation to begin with nowadays, but when it’s hot out, the last thing I want to do is feel a heavy layer of foundation clogging up my pores on my skin. Here’s my beauty routine for spring/summer 2021!

In terms of skincare, my routine is a little different for the mornings and nights.

In the morning I wash my face with Glossier Milky Jelly Cleanser, and then apply Aveeno Clear Complexion Moisturizer Sunscreen with SPF30. Wearing sunscreen is extremely important all year round, but ABSOLUTELY ESSENTIAL in the summertime. You don’t want to look 45 by the time you’re 25! Next, I apply Lanocreme Sooting Eye Serum with Manuka Honey on my eyes and finish with a few sprays of Mario Badescu Rosewater Facial Spray. This morning routine works perfectly for me since I have very dry skin, so it leaves my skin looking dewy and glowy all day.

At night, I start off with Ponds Cold Cream to remove my face and eye makeup (if I’m wearing any that day). I then use the same Glossier face wash as I did in the morning, and then use the Glossier Solution Toner (ONLY if I wore makeup that day). I emphasize this because using toner daily, especially twice daily, is extremely drying and damaging to the skin. Next I use CeraVe Resurfacing Retional Serum for my acne scars, and the same Lanocreme eye cream as I did in the morning. I finish with with Aveeno Clear Complexion Daily Moiturizer (not the sunscreen one), and another few sprays of the Mario Badescu spray.

For spring/summer makeup, I keep it extremely simple and natural. I do not use primer on my skin, the only prep I do is curl my eyelashes with a lash curler in small pulsating increments. I start with one layer of my favorite mascara of all time — Lancôme Definicils — and then use DUO black lash glue to apply my current favorite lashes — KISS Lash Couture in Classic. Then, I use my all-time favorite concealer — Smashbox Studio Skin 24 Hour Waterproof Concealer to cover up a few blemishes. This concealer is no joke. It is so incredibly full coverage and lasts all day despite any possible weather conditions. I then use the Elf clear eyebrow gel to go over my eyebrows, and the Airspun Loose Setting Powder to gently go over my whole face. I do not use the setting powder to bake — just simply dust it all over with a big fluffy brush. I finish with some clear gloss from Victoria’s Secret and a few sprays of the Mario Badescu rosewater spray.

This was my spring/summer beauty routine for a glowy, natural look! I highly recommend all the products I mentioned in this article!
