Fall Break As Told By “Parks And Rec”

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Scranton chapter.

Fall break may be over, but hopefully everyone’s feeling well-rested and a little less stressed because of it. If not, Thanksgiving break is only 42 days away! Here’s a breakdown of what fall break probably looked like for you (and what it definitely looked like for me), as told by Parks and Rec.

1. Classes the day before fall break: all you need to do is get through one lecture at 10 and one exam at 11 before you’re home free. But, let’s be real, you lost a good portion of your sanity during that all-nighter on Tuesday.

2. You get out of your last class for the day. YOU MADE IT!

3. You pack-up all your things to go home and realize two of the five bags you have are filled with laundry for your parents to do.

For some reason, your clothes seem way cleaner when your parents wash them for you.

4. Finally, you get home. The sleep-deprivation hits you the minute you walk through the door. At that very same minute, your parents bombard you with questions about your semester.

As much as you may try, you’re as good as a zombie right now. You can barely remember your major, let alone how you did on that presentation you made in the third week of September.

5. Getting into your own bed for the night (at approximately 9 p.m., with a face mask and some tea.)

6. Waking up at around 2 p.m. the next day and not knowing what year it is.

7. Once you’re awake and out of bed, you realize you’re starving. You’ve been in bed for 75% of the day, what else would you expect?

You consider your meal options, and it looks like you’ll have to make do with what your family has stocked the kitchen with while you’ve been gone. Cue wannabe gourmet chef mode.

8. Since most of the day is already gone, you tell yourself you’ll start your work tomorrow.

There’s no use starting it today, right? You’ll get up early tomorrow and get a head-start.

9. You get up early (at 11a.m.), but.. did someone say Sunday brunch?

10. Okay, so you’ve eaten, and you’re back home. Time to crack down on this work.

11. You write down all the things you have to do in your planner. That’s an accomplishment, right? That’s cause for celebration. Or a nap.

12. Suddenly, it’s Monday. The stress of the work you should’ve done would hit you, but you’re too concerned with the fact that you finally get to bring your clothes for fall back to school with you.

It’s the best time of the year, and you can finally wear your favorite sweaters without dying of heatstroke.

13. Then, you’re asked the jackpot question on Monday night: “Do you have a lot of work to do for this week?”

The answer is yes, but you’re in denial.

14. You rationalize that if you go to bed early tonight, you’ll be ready to conquer the day tomorrow.

15. It’s Tuesday. You’re back at Scranton. You’ve unpacked everything, and the realization that you haven’t opened a single book over break hits you like a ton of bricks.

16. Good thing you got plenty of sleep over break, because you won’t be getting much tonight.

You can totally get two homework assignments and a lab report done in eight hours, right?
