Best Movies to Stream This Holiday Season

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Scranton chapter.

Whether you’re in the mood for a cheesy love story destined to make you tear up or a good laugh from a grouchy green man, Netflix has anything you could need, besides Elf, in your Holiday streaming sesh. Here’s some of the best 4 (in no specific order)

1. Love Actually

Looking for a holiday themed romcom this season? Following 10 intertwining London love stories leading up to Christmas, this movie is a classic to watch with your girls. Maybe for Christmas you can wish for your own “to me, you are perfect” guest at your door.

2. Santa Buddies

Ringing in as one of THE CUTEST Christmas movies of all time, Santa Buddies: The Legend of Santa Paws is a childhood favorite of mine. Who doesn’t want to watch an hour and a half of rambunctious golden retriever puppies saving Christmas?

3. The Princess Switch

If you were to take The Parent Trap and The Princess Diaries, smush them together and add some snow, The Princess Switch is what you’ve got. Despite how cheesy it sounds, and trust me cheesy is an understatement, the feel-good Christmassy vibe you’re left with when the screen goes black is what brings this movie to my top five.

4. How the Grinch Stole Christmas

How the Grinch Stole Christmas is simply a classic, whether it’s the live-action or cartoon version. Whether you find yourself relating to the Whos of Whoville or the Grinch himself, this movie is bound to put you in the Christmas spirit. If your schedule sounds a little like “4:00 wallow in self-pity, 4:30 stare into the abyss, 5:00 solve world hunger, tell no one, 5:30 jazzercise” maybe instead of 6:30 dinner with yourself you can invite over some friends and stream the movie?

Although Netflix doesn’t have classics like Elf, Home Alone, or The Polar Express, it still has plenty of binge worthy holiday movies! So grab your hot chocolate, fuzzy blankets, and best friends to have a movie night as a step back from finals and a leap towards the holiday spirit.
