9 Ways To Start The Semester Right!

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Scranton chapter.

After a six-week break starting a new semester seems near impossible. Whether you were on campus for intersession, studying abroad or just flipping through Netflix it’s hard to get back to reality. We tend to focus on catching up with our girls rather than prepping for our classes… whoops. Well you’re in luck because HCScranton is here to assist you as you start this semester!

1. Make sure to purchase your textbooks ASAP.No one wants to fall behind in daily readings. Order your books before classes start or right after the first day. Textbooks can be expensive so make sure to check Chegg, Bookrenter and Amazon for some great deals!

2. Take part in syllabus festivities. Before the semester gets too hectic take advantage of going out during syllabus week. Use this time to reconnect with friends and be a part of your favorite weekday specials. When else can you spend your weeknights out instead of in Club Weinberg?!

3. Re-decorate your dorm room or house.Everybody can use a little change this time of year. Re-decorating your room is a great way to start fresh and stay organized. Say goodbye to your Christmas lights and get ready for Spring!

4. Actually go to class.Show your face the first week so the professor knows you’re serious about their class. Believe it or not professors really care about your attendance; don’t let something so simple have a negative impact on your grade! You definitely don’t want your professor to think you’re a slacker.

5. Don’t be one of those girls who only will go to the gym during syllabus week.Find a time in your schedule to go every week. Really focus on sticking to your New Year’s resolutions. Going to the gym is a great way to relieve stress and create some positive energy. Remember as Elle Woods says endorphins make you happy!

6. Make a list of your own campus cuties for the semester. It’s time to find some new potentials. You can always use our Campus Cuties articles as references. Step out of your comfort zone say hey to that cutie when you see them in DeNaples!

7. Venture outside of campus.Campus is great, but sometimes is nice to take a step away! There are so many places and activities in the area, take advantage of them! Every once in a while we need a little “me” time.

8. Make a bucket list with your friends. It’s time to start fresh think of some new adventures for you and your friends Create a list of things that you hope to cross off before the semester ends. When else will it ever be acceptable to go cliff diving in Nay Aug?!

9. Try something new.Seize the day! Go watch a sports team you’ve never seen before, join a new intermural team or club, meet new people! Or maybe just dance around aimlessly! Use this semester as a one of discovery, try something you’ve never thought of before. Who knows you could be amazing at something you’ve never tried before!
