Whether you are local and normally spend your long winter break in Scranton, or you are taking an intercession class, here are a few fun activities to do in the winter in Scranton!
1. See the Nay Aug Christmas Lights
The Christmas light show in Nay Aug starts in late November and runs until the last week of December so there is plenty of time to see the illuminated archway of jumping reindeer and Santa playing football.
2. Skiing, Snowboarding or Snow tubing at Montage Mountain
Montage Mountain is about a fifteen-minute drive from Scranton and is perfect on a snow day.
3. First Friday
Every first Friday of the month from 5 p.m.- 9 p.m., local businesses, restaurants, and art galleries promote open up shop to potential customers and art lovers in Scranton! I have lived here my whole life and when I went to First Friday this past month, I discovered so many local art galleries and clothing stores! Just Google the First Friday Scranton website to see all the local businesses participating for that month.
4. Iron Horse
The new movie theater downtown on Lackawanna Avenue has the most comfortable seating and a variety of the latest movies to watch!
5. Everhart Museum
The Everhart Museum, a natural history museum, is located in Nay Aug Park and offers a variety of temporary and permanent exhibits. The latest exhibit, created by artist Linda Mitchell, is titled “Truth in Animals.”
