5 Movies to Get You in The Halloween Mood

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Scranton chapter.
Halloween Town

This 1993 movie about the Sanderson Sisters is yet another Halloween classic! It takes place in Salem, Massachusetts which sets the chilling mood for the witches’ return. Watching the main characters thrilling journey of keeping the Sanderson Sisters at bay, perfectly sets the Halloween mood.

Coraline

Now, I know what you might be thinking but yes, this animated movie from 2009 is fantastically spooky! I love all things scary, especially movies, so when my friends told me about just how spooky this movie was I had to watch it. I was skeptical at first but ended up really loving the terrifying animation and eerie storyline!

The Nightmare Before Christmas

Some might say this is more of a Christmas movie but, it is just as much about Halloween as it is a Christmas. This movie from Tim Burton is one of my absolute favorites following the storyline of Jack Skellington trying to find something new. Just like all of Burton’s movies, the animation is fantastic and perfectly resembles everything great about the Halloween season!

Monster House

Last but definitely not least on this list is Monster House! This is another one of my favorite Halloween movies because of its humor and unique storyline. This 2006 animated movie about three kids fighting a house with a haunting personality is surprisingly witty with just the right amount of thrill!
