11 Things Dog Owners Can Relate To

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Scranton chapter.

1. Your dog takes up your whole bed.

Waking up in the middle of the night due to almost falling off your bed. You don’t mind though; you can’t imagine sleeping without your dog.

2. When your dog wakes up, you do too.

That 8 a.m. cry every morning that wakes you up from your slumber. You try to ignore it and go back to sleep, but you know you’ll just end up getting out of bed to cater to your dog’s needs.

3. You can’t get mad at your dog, no matter what.

Remember that time you came home from work just to find leftovers all over the floor? You know who the culprit is. You get mad and start yelling, but soon realize how you can’t stay mad at that adorable little face for longer than maybe 60 seconds.

4. You spend too much money on toys your dog doesn’t need.

You go to the store to buy groceries, but of course you have to stop at the pet section quickly. Your dog already has at least 20 different toys. You don’t need to buy another one. But that blue fluffy lamb is calling your name. You know how happy your dog will be to play with it, so you just give in and buy it. Another $7 isn’t a big deal, right?

5. Your camera roll is 90% your dog.

Opening your camera roll just to realize it’s all filled with pictures and videos of your dog. Now you understand why you have no more storage on your phone.

6. You feed your dog way too much.

Of course your dog always has to sit by your chair during family dinners. Probably because you’re known to drop some food on the floor “by accident”.

7. Your dog is always there for you when you’re upset.

Dogs have a great way of sensing when something’s wrong. Whether you’re making it obvious or not, your dog can usually tell if you’re distressed. However, I do give my dog props for being able to cheer me up whenever I’m feeling down in the dumps.

8. You treat your dog like your own child.

Don’t even try to deny it. You know you do it too.

9. You get so excited when you see another dog in public.

If you’re anything like me, then you have to stop and pet every dog you see while you’re out. Yes. Every. Single. One.

10. You spend all your time stalking dog accounts on Instagram.

If you’re a true dog lover, you can definitely relate to this. Why stalk people on Instagram when you can spend your time scrolling through pictures of cute puppies instead??

11. Your dog loves you no matter what.

Dogs are very affectionate and loving animals that we are fortunate to have. No matter what you do or how many times you scold them for misbehaving, you know they will always be by your side and love you.
