The trends in the fashion world seem to be forever changing. With every season comes a new color, style or look. Even if you bought clothing that was trendy last summer, it seems those clothes are no longer ‘in’.

How are we to keep up with the fashion trends, but also keep our bank accounts afloat?

For starters, versatile wardrobe is key.

1.       Black is classy and will never, ever go out of style. Period.

2.       A pop of color is always fun, and fun is a style in and of itself.

3.       Crop tops have been going strong for about a year now, so I think it’s a safe buy.

4.       When you find an article of clothing you like, buy it. And buy it in multiple colors. I am all about having my favorite tee in several colors. It makes picking out your outfit in the morning that much simpler.

5.       Don’t be sucked into buying that one really expensive article of clothing that you know you will only wear once or twice. Your wardrobe can live without the clothing, your bank account needs that money for other essentials (a.k.a. food, rent, beer etc.).

6.       Stock up on tights. We all know they only last a handful of nights out and tights are easy to wear with almost anything ; dresses, shorts, skirts.

7.       Prints are exciting but unfortunately the ‘in’ print of the season seems to change quickly. Splurging on a print you can see yourself wearing a number of times is the only way I can justify the splurge.

8.       Jeans are my hardest buy. They are way more expensive than I remember them being when my mom was buying them (that seems to be true with everything). Do not settle on a pair just because they are cheaper. Find a pair that you love and that you can wear all day and night without wanting to go home, rip them off and throw on your comfy shorts.

9.       Always have a go to semi casual dress. If not for no other reason than the fact that some days a cute dress can make you feel 10x better.

10.   Finally, try new things! People love uniqueness and they love seeing an article of clothing they own, worn in a way they never would have thought of.
