This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at SCAD chapter.

Maria Bethania, is a freshman here at SCAD Savannah, You can spot her in the foundation buildings during the week, and the under 21 clubs and house parties on weekends. She’s a pretty and fun loving girl who tries to find positivity in every situation .Her primary language of choice is Spanish yet she manages to speak English flawlessly through her classes and presentations. She’s very talented and definitely worth learning more about. Check out our exclusive interview with Maria below:

Sana Bhatia-Hi Maria! Thank you for letting us interview you. Please tell us where you are from?

Maria Bethania-Hi Sana! I’m from Caracas, which is the capital of Venezuela.

SB-Tell me something interesting about yourself.

MB-I have a sun tattoo symbolizing my sister. This tattoo represent her because my Mom calls her the sun of her life. That way, even while overseas, I’m still close to her.

SB-Where is the tattoo located?

MB-It’s on my left hand. My mom refers to me as the moon, so my sister has a moon tattoo on her left hand as well.

SB-What’s your major?

MB-Graphic Design.

SB-What made you decide to major in Graphic Design?

MB-I like visually designing something and the drawing and painting it. This major allows me to live out my passion as a career.

SB-As you are spotted in clubs on the weekends, which clubs do you prefer here in Savannah?

MB-I feel Elan is the best here in Savannah because it offers nights exclusive to students under 21 like myself.

SB-Students around campus always seem to be complimenting your fashion sense. Who is your style icon?

MB-Thank you! Blake Lively for sure.

SB-Being from another country can sometime be difficult. Have you experienced any type of “culture shock” while attending school in Georgia?

MB-The culture here is not that different from my country, but I would say that the difficulty I’m facing is having to speak another language. However, I’m trying to make some American friends, and speak to them in English.

SB-What is your opinion on Savannah and SCAD?

MB-I love it here, I have the chance to meet a lot of new people.

If you live in the freshmen dorms, and happen to see Maria, make sure to stop by, say hey!
