How to Make the Most of Halloween in the Most Haunted City of America

We all know Savannah is the most haunted city in America, but how fearless are you willing to get this Halloween season? Savannah, Georgia is renowned for ghostly sightings and mysterious occurrences. Here are some activities and attractions that are a must-see during this Halloween season.

Savannah Ghosts and Ghouls Tour- by Ghost City Tours. This tour is guaranteed to make you check your closets for ghosts. You’ll walk through some of the most haunted and historic homes, hidden cemeteries, and more of Savannah’s secret, haunted locations. If you love spooky history then this is just for you!

When: October 26 – November 3 at 7 p.m.

Prices: varies with age

 

13th Annual Corn Maze and Haunted Forest- hosted by Poppell Farms in Odum, GA. This is a day trip, but TOTALLY worth it. There’s a large array of activities such as cow train rides, hayrides, steer roping and a petting zoo with ponies, llamas and donkeys. Don’t forget to check out the “Trail of Terror” at night to finish off a full day of fun!

When: Saturdays from 10 a.m. – 10 p.m. and Sundays from 12 – 5 p.m.

Pumpkin Carving– Feel like getting crafty? This is just for you! Purchase your perfect pumpkin at Poppell Farms and enjoy a night in with friends as you compete for most creative pumpkin. Throw in some tunes and wine, and you’ll have a flawless autumn evening!

Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil- Want to get in the Halloween spirit but not feeling like going out? Enjoy this thrilling read by John Berendt. This New York Times Best-Seller is based off real events and takes place in our own Savannah. If you love history and twisty stories, this is just for you!

Sorrell-Weed House- on Harris Street. This house is known as the most haunted home in Savannah, these tours include professional ghost-hunting equipment and are guaranteed to leave you spooked. Enjoy a 3-4 hour long investigation that will surely give you the adrenaline to kick off Halloween!

When: 3-4 hour investigations begin at 12 a.m. on October 25, 26, 30 and 31

Masquerade Ball- Join your classmates for a night of fear at the annual Masquerade Ball. Have you ever seen thousands of art students competing for best costume? It’s like nothing you’ve ever seen before. Enjoy good music, haunted carnival games, and come in your best costume for a chance to win a prize!

Where: SCAD Museum of Art, Alex Townsend Memorial Courtyard

Price: This event is free for all students with a valid SCAD Card.
