Campus Cutie OU Edition

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at SCAD chapter.

It’s clear that the social dynamic at SCAD is different than most colleges. That being said, there aren’t many cute guys for us girls to look at. We all need a little eye candy so meet Jalen Jackson, a freshman at the University of Oklahoma studying Computer Engineering.

Hometown: Elgin, Oklahoma

Favorite Movie: 300: Rise of an Empire

Favorite type of food: Cajun

Relationship Status: Single

Her Campus: How do you like the University of Oklahoma?

Jalen Jackson: I honestly love it at this college. Being here at OU is a great experience.

HC: At SCAD, athletics aren’t big events like they are at most colleges or universities, what
are some of the experiences like?

Jalen: The University of Oklahoma is part of the BIG 12 division. With that being said, athletics is a huge part of the college experience here. Everyone attends the games as if they were going to church. Game day, which is on Saturday, is amazing. There are thousands of fans walking around campus and you hear the noise from the stadium just about anywhere on campus. During the game everyone is loud and hype. Everyone at OU supports the athletic department here.

HC: What has been your best college memory so far?

Jalen: My best college memory, so far, was going to the University of Oklahoma vs. the University of Texas rivalry game in Dallas, Texas at the Cotton Bowl. Although OU lost, it was very fun taking a road trip with friends and partying with them in Dallas after the game.

HC: Would you consider going to an art school? If so, what would you be interested or
want to major in?

Jalen: Honestly, I probably would not consider it just because I am in no way an artistic guy.

HC: That’s too bad, you might have enjoyed the characters (people) you come across.  How do you think a traditional college experience compares to one at an art school?

Jalen: I would think that the main difference would be that at an art school, the students would not be able to experience athletic events and Greek events.

HC: I would have to agree 100% with you on that. Right now you’re majoring in computer engineering, why are interested in that?

Jalen: I am interested in computer engineering because I simply love computers. In this major, I will learn how to build computers and create programs that run computers. Furthermore, I will learn how to implement all of those skills into any other form of technology that uses a computer, which is all technology.  Also, I am in the Air Force ROTC here at OU and having a degree in computer engineering will open doors for me to have a Cyberspace career in the Air Force when I graduate from college.

HC: Where do you see yourself after graduation?

Jalen: As a cadet in the Air Force ROTC, after graduation I will be commissioned officer in the USAF as a 2nd Lieutenant.  I will be stationed in one of the three air bases of my choice and start my Air Force career there.

HC: What do you like to do on the weekends with your friends?

Jalen: On the weekends, my friends and I will sleep in until about 11:00 am. Then we will go to Campus Corner, which is a long strip full of restaurants and coffee shops on the corner of our campus. After we eat we normally go back to the dorms and play Xbox then go to the fitness center to play basketball and lift. After that we then would go eat again at the only all you can eat Chick-fil-A in the Country! It is in our cafeteria along with about ten other great restaurants. After we eat we get ready to go out to parties. It’s pretty much the weekend lifestyle of every student here.

HC: Describe yourself in three words.

Jalen:

1.     Respectful

2.     Fit

3.     Funny

HC: Do you have any pet peeves?

Jalen:Yes, slow drivers. Also people whom walk slowly on campus, have horrible hygiene, and have no ambition in life.

HC: You seem like a charming young man that many girls would be attracted to. What
qualities attract you to a girl that would lead you to pursuing them?

Jalen: First of all, I have to see them as beautiful. They must have a pretty smile, long natural hair, fit body, funny, smart, ambitious, believes in God, respectable in public.

HC: Describe the perfect date.

Jalen: I would pick up the girl at about 7:30 pm. There would be a rose siting in the passenger seat when I open the door for her. Then take her out to eat at a nice restaurant and then get ice cream. We would go on a stroll along a river walk or something like that for nice conversation. From there go to the movies. After the movies take her home and walk her to the door. Depending on how the date went and how well I know her, give her a kiss and go back home.

HC: What did do anything for spring break?

Jalen: I went to Hawaii to visit my best friend who lives there now. It was the best spring break I have had so far.

HC: March madness is in full force. Did you fill out a bracket?

Jalen: Yeah I did. I have Arizona and Michigan going to the championship.

Ladies you can find Jalen around the engineering facilities or study rooms in the student union building. If you can’t find him there, he is usually at the fitness center. “I could practically live there I wanted to” Jalen says. Make sure to follow him on Instagram at JalenJehs7.
