Happy Veteran’s Day from Her Campus at SCAD

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at SCAD ATL chapter.

Design by Christine Burney.

So, there are nearly 500 veterans (probably more now) scattered throughout Savannah College of Art and Design and I am one of them.  There are many more who will surprise you that they have already served several years in the armed forces.  If you know any of them, just remember that something inside of them said that they would be willing to lay do their life for another person.  Now, whether that came from a place of naivété, a patriotic upbringing, a desire simply for free education, to do violence or just a heart full of nobility, the act alone is worth thanksgiving that people still exist who are willing to die for another person.  May each veteran come to a place of honor and grace today, that, right in the midst of finals and crazy election drama, it is still a day to take time to remember.  If you are a veteran, take some time out today to love on yourself and/or another veteran.  There are so many suffering, even right here in Atlanta and Savannah VA Hospitals or on the streets; maybe even consider stopping in to visit with some of them this winter break.  Many have lost limbs and use of body and mind parts for the sake of this country.   Lastly, may we find a way to peace in this country.  God bless America.  May love and understanding fill this land unprecedentedly.
