Five ways to celebrate your birthday during quarantine

Do you have a birthday coming up soon? My birthday is one of the days I look forward to every year. A whole day to celebrate yourself with the people you love around you. My birthday just happens to fall on the 17th of April. However, nowadays birthdays are different due to the pandemic. Therefore, my birthday celebration is going to be very different this year. I’m used to going out with family and friends for a birthday dinner and having a series of gatherings to celebrate my birthday every year. To those of you who has a birthday during quarantine, I understand that it’s hard not being able to celebrate with the ones you love. Since we’re not allowed to go out and have gatherings, I came up with a few activities on how we can celebrate our birthdays.

Have a birthday photoshoot in your backyard!

There’s nothing like kicking off your birthday with a fun birthday photoshoot for social media. Find something cute to wear that you already own. Find a nice spot in your backyard with a good background. Get one of your parents or siblings to take cool photos of you. If you have birthday props, like balloons or confetti, that’s a definite plus!

Video chat with your friends and relatives

This is a simple and easy way to get in touch with those you love so they can wish you a happy birthday. If a phone call from them isn’t enough and you really want to see their faces, Skype, FaceTime, Zoom, or any form of video chat media is a great way to get in touch. Take a time during your birthday to reach out to your friends and loved ones for a “video chat birthday party” so that it feels like they’re with you.

Treat yourself to some online shopping

Do you have any gift cards from stores you haven’t been able to use yet? Feeling like shopping but you can’t go to the stores in person? Get into online shopping for a few goodies. You probably have rewards and free gifts for your birthday from some of your favorite retail stores. You don’t want those to go to waste, after all. You deserve to treat yourself to a few gifts on your birthday!

Have your favorite dish made on your birthday

Have your family, friends, or whoever is quarantined with you cook you your favorite meal for your birthday. Whether it’s brunch or dinner, it’s nice to have a home-cooked meal of your favorite food. If for some reason it’s impossible cook or you don’t feel like having something cooked for you, have food from your favorite restaurant delivered (for dinner, I’m planning on having indian food delivered on my birthday).

Don’t forget to have cake!

Having cake on your birthday is an absolute must. I couldn’t imagine celebrating my birthday without a cake or cupcakes. Have a cake or any dessert you want ready to pickup at a store for your birthday celebration. You can also have a dessert made at home. Your parents or siblings or whoever lives with you may want to bake you something.

So, to all the birthday babes who have a birthday coming up, like myself, Happy Early Birthday!! May your birthday be filled with love and joy and that you continue to stay safe and stay healthy!
